The market is strictly "producer-only." This means everything you see was made, baked, or grown by the person standing right in front of you. There is something so rewarding about buying a loaf of sourdough bread directly from the woman who spent all night kneading the dough.

My first stop is always the food stalls. The variety is staggering! You can find everything from traditional Mexican tamales to authentic Thai street food. I know, Thai food in Mexico seems unexpected, but trust me, it is AMAZING!! The spicy, aromatic flavors are the perfect way to wake up your senses.
We often grab a couple of "aguas frescas", natural fruit-infused waters, and just wander. The colors of the produce are so vibrant they look almost fake. Dragonfruit, starfruit, and the sweetest mangoes you’ve ever tasted are piled high in wooden crates.

Everyone is friendly, and it’s easy to strike up a conversation with a vendor about how they make their goat cheese or where they source their coffee beans. I’ve learned so much about the regional ingredients just by asking questions.
