We just spent a few weeks living in the heart of Amapas, and I honestly can’t stop talking about it.
If you have been to Puerto Vallarta before, you know the vibe is usually all about those narrow cobblestone streets and older, charming buildings.
But this time, we wanted something different: something fresh and modern that still felt like it belonged in Mexico.
Amapas turned out to be the absolute best place to rent for exactly that reason.
It sits right on the edge of Old Town, which is also known as the Zona Romantica, so you get all the energy of the city whenever you want it.
But best of all, when you walk back up into Amapas, it’s like someone turned the volume down.
It is peaceful, green, and feels like a total retreat without being stuck out in the middle of nowhere.
If you are a solo traveler or a couple looking for that perfect balance, you really have to check out this neighborhood.
I’ve stayed in a lot of different spots around town, but the way Amapas blends modern living with traditional scenery is just unbeatable.
Our condo was a dream, and I think it might be the only way I want to travel from now on!
Why We Think Amapas is the Best
When we were looking for a place, we kept hearing that Amapas was the place to be for anyone who likes a more contemporary feel.
And man, they were right!
The neighborhood is built into the hillside, which means almost every place has these incredible views of the jungle and the ocean.
We loved waking up and seeing nothing but green leaves and blue water through huge floor-to-ceiling windows.
It feels very private and secure, which is something we always look for when we are staying somewhere for more than a few days.
Plus, even though it’s a bit of a hill, you are just a few minutes away from the best tacos and beach clubs in the world.

For us, the draw was the modern interiors: everything felt so clean, crisp, and functional.
It wasn’t just a place to sleep; it was a place we actually wanted to spend time in.

The Magic of the Modern Mexican Interior
I am obsessed with the way these new condos in Amapas are designed.
Our place had these amazing white quartz countertops and a backsplash made of the most vibrant, colorful Mexican tiles.
It was like a work of art right there in the kitchen!
We spent so many mornings making coffee and just staring at the patterns.
It’s hard to find that perfect apartaento de mi sueno where everything works perfectly but it still feels like you are actually in Mexico.
In some other areas, you either get old-school charm that can feel a bit dated, or something so modern it feels like it could be in any city in the world.
But in Amapas, they really get it right.
They use local materials, like beautiful parota wood and hand-woven textiles, but they put them in a space with high-speed internet and great air conditioning.
I was so grateful for the comfortable sofa and the sleek layout after a long day of exploring.
It made coming home the best part of the day!
We honestly felt so spoiled by how easy everything was in our unit.
Everything was just SOOO clean and well-thought-out.
Living Like a Local (But Better)
One of the coolest things about Amapas is how it connects you to the rest of the city.
You can walk down the hill and be in the heart of the Zona Romantica in about ten minutes.
We loved going down for dinner at a local spot and then walking back up the cobblestone streets.
The streets in Amapas are so beautiful, winding up through the hills with all these bright orange and yellow buildings.

It is definitely a bit of a workout, but we loved it!
It made us feel like we were really living there, not just visiting.
If you aren't into walking up hills, there are always plenty of taxis and Ubers, but the views on the walk are too good to miss.
We found a few hidden stairways that take you right down to the beach, too.
It’s these little practical details that make a vacation so much better.
You don't feel like you are in a tourist trap; you feel like you've found a secret pocket of paradise.
We spent a lot of time just wandering around, looking at the different architecture and the lush plants everywhere.
It is such a vibrant and colorful part of town.
The Perfect Base for Work and Play
If you are a puerto vallarta digital nomad, you absolutely have to consider Amapas.
I spent a few afternoons working from our balcony, and it was the most productive I’ve been in months.
Having a reliable workspace with a view of the mountains is just AMAZING.
Many of the rentals here are geared toward people who need a bit more than just a bed for the night.
They have desks, great lighting, and enough space that you don't feel cramped.
Plus, when you close the door, it is quiet enough to actually get stuff done.
That can be hard to find in the middle of Old Town where the party never really stops.

I also loved our bedroom: it was so minimalist and calm.
The crisp white linens and the pops of color from the local art made it feel so fresh.
We slept so well every single night.
It was the best of both worlds because we could go out for a loud, fun dinner and then come back to a totally silent bedroom.

But for us, Amapas still wins for the sheer modern comfort of the buildings.
Final Thoughts and Recommendations
Amapas is hands down my favorite place to stay in Puerto Vallarta now.
It is modern, it is beautiful, and it gives you a sense of space that you just can't get in the older parts of town.
We loved the contrast of the sleek condo against the wild green jungle outside our window.
If you are planning a trip, I highly recommend looking at this neighborhood first.
You get the best views, the best interiors, and the best location for exploring everything from the beach to the bars.
The people we met were so friendly, and we felt so safe walking around at all hours.
We are already planning our next stay!

I can’t wait to get back to that kitchen and those jungle views.
Puerto Vallarta is such a special place, but staying in Amapas made it feel even more like home.
