Waking up in your own rental means you aren't stuck with a mediocre hotel breakfast.
One of my favorite morning rituals is wandering the cobblestone streets of Old Town to find the perfect spot to start the day.
And best of all, when you stay in Amapas, you get the calm, quiet vibe up the hill, but you're still just a quick walk from all the breakfast action.
The Morning Brew
Some mornings, we just want to move slow.
Our condo and apartment rentals puerto vallarta come with great kitchens, so I often make a pot of coffee first.

It is so nice to sit at the breakfast bar in Sueño and just plan the day.
But eventually, the smell of street food and fresh baking pulls me outside.
If you are an early bird, you have to check out Cafe Es Todo.
They open at 6:30 am, which is rare in a town that likes to sleep in.
The coffee is strong, the service is fast, and it’s the perfect fuel for a morning hike.
I highly recommend their dark roast if you need a real kickstart.
Breakfast with a View
If you want to feel the ocean breeze while you eat, head down toward the water.
El Dorado is a classic for a reason.
Sitting on the sand with a bowl of Greek yogurt and seasonal fruit feels like the ultimate vacation.
I also love their apple crepes when I’m feeling like something sweet.
It is factual: the view of the bay makes everything taste better!

The Cobblestone Vibe at Cálmate Café
This place is exactly what the title of this post is about.
Cálmate Café is located just a bit away from the main tourist drag, and it is SOOO relaxing.
We love sitting at the small tables right on the glistening cobblestones.
You can literally watch the morning unfold as locals walk their dogs and the town wakes up.
They have amazing fresh-squeezed juices and smoothies.
It feels healthy, fresh, and very "Old Town."
Zona Romantica has a lot of energy, but Cálmate keeps things chill.

The Legends: Fredy’s Tucán and The Pancake House
You cannot talk about breakfast in PV without mentioning Fredy’s Tucán.
There is usually a queue, but it moves fast, and the staff is incredibly friendly.
I ALWAYS get the chilaquiles or the huevos rancheros here.
The portions are huge, and they give you freshly baked pastries while you wait.
It is easily one of the best spots in the city.
Then there is The Pancake House.
They have been around for over 30 years!
I heard they were once voted the best breakfast place in the world, and I believe it.
With over 50 items on the menu, it is impossible to choose.
I usually go for the eggs Benedict, but the gourmet pancakes are tempting every single time.
If it happens to be a cloudy day, a big stack of pancakes is the perfect comfort food.

Hidden Gems and Local Flavors
If you are on a budget or just want something authentic, follow the locals.
Tacos de Birria El Banquito is legendary.
It is one of the cheapest and most delicious breakfasts you will find.
The meat is tender, the broth is savory, and it’s a total flavor explosion.
Another favorite is La Chilaqueria.
As the name suggests, they specialize in chilaquiles.
You can customize your plate with different sauces and toppings.
It is a very relaxed vibe, perfect for a slow morning before heading to the beach.
Our rent apartments puerto vallarta are located perfectly to reach these spots.
Staying at Hummingbird means you are never more than a few minutes away from a great meal.
Why Amapas is My Favorite Base
I have stayed in a lot of areas, but Amapas always wins.
You get the best views of the skyline and the greenery.

Walking down from Amapas into the heart of the cobblestone streets is my favorite part of the day.
It feels like a real neighborhood.
You see the same faces at the coffee shops, and everyone is so welcoming.
We are so grateful to be part of this community.
A Garden Oasis at Coco’s Kitchen
If you want a break from the sun, go to Coco’s Kitchen.
The outdoor garden space is beautiful and lush.
It feels like a secret hideaway right in the middle of everything.
Their stuffed chili omelet is AMAZING!!
It is the perfect mix of traditional Mexican flavors and a hearty breakfast.
The atmosphere is so pleasant that we often end up staying for two or three cups of coffee.
The staff works so hard to make sure you have everything you need.
We really appreciate the great service there.
Final Thoughts
If you're looking for that classic Puerto Vallarta energy, you have to hit Fredy's Tucan.
It's a local institution.
The garden patio is lush, and the portions are massive—I usually don't even need lunch after eating there.
On the other hand, if you want something that feels like a secret courtyard hideaway, Coco's Kitchen is the winner.
Their stuffed French toast is basically famous at this point, and sitting under the trees with a breeze coming off the bay is pure magic.
The best part?
These spots are just a quick walk from our rentals.
You can enjoy your morning coffee, soak in the sights, and be back at your condo in minutes.
