I've spent enough time in Zona Romantica to know where the best sunset views are. And honestly? The rooftop bar scene here is incredible.
If you're looking for Puerto Vallarta rooftop bars that combine great drinks with even better views, I've got you covered. These are my top five spots that I keep coming back to.
1. The Top Sky Bar at Almar Resort
This one's at the top of my list for a reason.
The Top Sky Bar sits right on the beach with panoramic views of the Pacific. I love coming here around sunset when the sky turns pink and orange over the water.

They're open from 7 am to 11 pm daily, which is perfect because you can grab breakfast with a view or come for evening cocktails. But here's the best part – Thursday through Sunday, they host drag shows and live entertainment as the sun sets.
The energy is amazing. The performers are talented. And the crowd is always having a good time.
They also have a rooftop hot tub if you're a resort guest. Watching the sunset from there with a drink in hand? Pretty hard to beat.
2. La Noche
If you want the full Zona Romantica nightlife experience, this is your spot.
La Noche is part rooftop lounge, part nightclub, and it's spread over three floors. The rooftop section gives you incredible city views while you sip your drink.
But what makes this place legendary are the shows. We're talking GoGo dancers, drag queens, acrobatic performers, and pole dancers. The entertainment is next level.
They open at 8 pm and go until 2:30 am, so this is definitely a later-night option. I usually start my evening somewhere more chill and end up here when I want to dance and enjoy the show.
The vibe is electric. Everyone's having fun. And the rooftop setting makes it feel special.
3. Sapphire Ocean Club
This place surprised me the first time I went.

Sapphire sits high enough that you get views of both the ocean AND the mountains. The rooftop terrace wraps around, so you can move to different spots depending on where the sun is.
I like their cocktail menu because they use fresh local ingredients. Their mango margarita is seriously good.
The crowd here tends to be a mix of locals and travelers, which I always appreciate. You get real conversations and make actual connections, not just tourist small talk.
They have live music most nights – usually acoustic sets or small jazz groups. It's the perfect volume where you can still talk but the music sets a great mood.
4. Altitude Rooftop Bar
If you're staying in Amapas or visiting that area, Altitude is worth the trip up the hill.
The elevation here means the views are insane. You can see the entire bay, the city lights, and watch boats coming in and out of the marina.

I come here when I want something more low-key. The atmosphere is relaxed and sophisticated without being stuffy. You can actually hear yourself think, which is nice after a busy day exploring.
Their sunset happy hour is my favorite time to visit. The prices are reasonable and the finger foods are better than typical bar snacks.
Pro tip: Get there a bit before sunset to snag a good table. The best spots fill up fast.
5. Cielo Rooftop Lounge
This one's tucked away, so a lot of tourists miss it. But locals know.
Cielo has this intimate vibe that I really like. The rooftop is smaller than the others on this list, which means it never feels overcrowded.
They focus on craft cocktails, and the bartenders actually know what they're doing. I've had some of my best drinks in PV here.
The lighting at night is perfect – warm and ambient without being too dim. And they've got these comfortable lounge chairs where you can really settle in for the evening.
I bring friends here when we want good conversation over good drinks. It's that kind of place.
Making the Most of Your Rooftop Bar Experience
Here's what I've learned from hitting up these spots regularly.
Start early if you want to catch sunset. The best tables go fast, especially on weekends. I usually arrive 30-45 minutes before the sun goes down.
Dress code matters at some places. Nothing too formal, but skip the beach wear and flip flops. Casual nice is the sweet spot.

Don't be afraid to bar hop. These places are all pretty close to each other in Zona Romantica. You can easily hit two or three in one night.
Try the local tequilas and mezcals. The selection at these rooftop bars is usually excellent, and the bartenders can guide you to something great.
Where to Stay When You Visit
If you want easy access to all these rooftop bars, you need to stay in the right area.
I always recommend renting a condo in Zona Romantica. You're walking distance to everything, including all five of these bars. Plus, having your own place means you can come and go as you please.
Amapas is my top choice because it's elevated enough for amazing views but still close to the action. You get the best of both worlds.
Having a vacation rental also means you can save money on meals by cooking sometimes, which leaves more budget for those rooftop cocktails.
My Final Take
These five rooftop bars each bring something different to the table.
The Top Sky Bar is my go-to for sunset and shows. La Noche is where I end up when I want to dance. Sapphire is for when I want good drinks and better conversations. Altitude is my chill spot with the best views. And Cielo is for intimate evenings with close friends.
You really can't go wrong with any of them. But if I had to pick just one? The Top Sky Bar edges ahead because of the combination of location, atmosphere, and entertainment.
The rooftop bar scene is one of my favorite things about Zona Romantica. The views, the drinks, the energy – it all comes together perfectly here.
Get out there and explore these spots. Your evenings in Puerto Vallarta will thank you.
