I have worked remotely while traveling, and I know how quickly a good trip can become stressful when two people share one workspace.
Amapas makes this easier. The hillside neighborhood feels calmer than the busiest parts of Old Town, but cafés, restaurants, the beach, and daily essentials are still close by. With a simple routine, we can enjoy Puerto Vallarta without allowing work calls to take over the day.
This is the quiet-hours plan I recommend for couples staying in an Amapas condo.
Why Amapas works well for remote-working couples
Amapas is one of the best places to rent in Puerto Vallarta if quiet work time matters to you.
The neighborhood sits above Old Town, also known as Zona Romantica. That means we can walk downhill for coffee or lunch, then return to a more peaceful home base for focused work.
There is no single citywide quiet-hours schedule that applies to every building. Instead, each condo has its own house rules, neighbors, and normal sound patterns. In practice, mornings and early afternoons are often the easiest times for deep work.
The most important thing is choosing a condo with a practical layout, dependable Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and somewhere to place a laptop. A beautiful view is enjoyable, but a comfortable chair and a stable connection make a much bigger difference on a meeting-heavy day.
Our recommended quiet-hours schedule
I like to divide the day into three work modes: quiet focus, shared calls, and flexible café time.
7:30–9:00 a.m.: Start quietly
We begin with coffee, a light breakfast, and a quick check of our calendars.
This is a good time to review messages, plan tasks, and handle work that does not require a meeting. Keeping the first hour calm helps both people settle in without immediately competing for the same chair, outlet, or quiet corner.
We also agree on the day’s call schedule before opening our laptops fully.
A simple question helps:
“Which of us has the most important calls today?”
The answer determines who gets the more enclosed work area.
9:00–11:30 a.m.: Deep-work block
This is our main quiet block.
We keep music off, avoid loud kitchen appliances, and use headphones even when we are not on a call. Headphones signal that one person is concentrating and should not be interrupted unless something is urgent.
If one person needs to speak during a call, the other moves to the bedroom, balcony seating area, or café. If the condo has one main table, we take turns using it for meetings.
A shared calendar makes this much easier. We mark calls with a simple color code:
- Red: must be completely quiet
- Yellow: headphones are enough
- Green: casual conversation is fine
This small system prevents many awkward interruptions.

11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.: Change of scene
After two or three focused hours, we leave the condo if our schedules allow it.
A café in or near Old Town can provide a welcome change without turning the whole day into a workday. We usually choose a table where one person can work quietly while the other handles a short call with headphones.
Cafés are not private offices, so we keep expectations realistic. We order something, avoid taking up a small table during the busiest period, and do not schedule long presentations when the room is crowded.
For light work, email, writing, and short calls, a café can be perfect. For back-to-back meetings, we return to the condo or use a dedicated coworking space.
Headphone and call etiquette
Headphones are the easiest way to protect the mood of a shared condo.
Noise-canceling headphones help when one person is listening to a meeting. A separate microphone can also reduce the need to speak loudly. Before an important call, we test the microphone and camera so we do not spend the first five minutes asking, “Can you hear me?”
I recommend these simple rules:
Use headphones for every meeting
Even if only one person is speaking, headphones prevent the other person from hearing the same conversation twice. They also reduce the temptation to turn up the laptop volume.
Keep your voice at an indoor level
A normal speaking voice works well in most condos. If a call becomes emotional, energetic, or especially long, move to a more enclosed space.
Do not take calls in shared café seating for hours
Short calls are usually fine when handled quietly. Long client meetings belong in the condo, a phone booth, or a coworking space.
Tell your partner when a call is sensitive
Some meetings require complete privacy. A quick message such as “I need the room from 2:00 to 2:45” gives the other person enough time to plan a walk, café visit, or separate task.

How to divide a one-bedroom condo
A one-bedroom condo can work very well for two remote workers, but only if we treat the space as two work zones.
The living area is usually best for the person who needs a desk, better lighting, or a more professional background. The bedroom can become a quieter call area when the door closes.
We also keep one secondary setup ready. It can be a small dining table, a counter with a comfortable chair, or a balcony table when conditions are suitable.
The goal is not to create two perfect offices. The goal is to have two usable places so both people can work at the same time.
Before booking, I check for:
- A real table or desk
- Comfortable seating
- Strong Wi-Fi
- Enough outlets near the work area
- Air conditioning
- A bedroom door that closes
- A kitchen suitable for quick meals
- Clear information about stairs and access
Hummingbird is a practical example for couples who want a one-bedroom setup, a desk, fast Wi-Fi, a king bed, and a kitchen. Vizcarra 1 is another useful option, especially for people who appreciate strong Wi-Fi with an Ethernet port and a compact, modern studio layout.

A simple shared condo routine
Our condo routine stays quiet when we agree on a few daily habits.
We prepare coffee and breakfast before the first major call. We keep a water bottle beside each laptop so nobody needs to walk through a meeting to refill it. We also make lunch during a scheduled break instead of starting a blender or frying food while the other person is presenting.
At the end of the workday, we close the laptops and clear the table. This matters more than it sounds. When the dining area remains covered with chargers and notebooks all evening, the condo still feels like an office.
A ten-minute reset works well:
- Save and close work files.
- Put headphones and chargers in one place.
- Wash coffee cups.
- Write down tomorrow’s first task.
- Leave the condo for a walk or meal.
That final step helps us enjoy Amapas instead of spending the entire visit indoors.

What to do on a call-heavy day
Some days are simply meeting-heavy. When that happens, we do not force the condo routine to work.
The person with several calls can use a quieter café, a coworking space, or a separate room. The other person can stay in the condo and complete focused tasks.
If both people have calls at the same time, we plan ahead. One person takes the condo’s enclosed room while the other leaves for a work-friendly café. This is much better than trying to whisper over each other from opposite sides of the same room.
I also recommend keeping one backup option ready. Save a café address, download important files, and carry a charger. Internet connections are usually reliable in well-managed rentals, but a backup plan keeps one small problem from ruining the day.
My final Amapas recommendation
For couples working remotely, Amapas offers the best balance of quiet, access, and everyday comfort. We can focus in the morning, work from a café for a change of scene, and still return to a peaceful condo before the evening.
The key is not working constantly. It is agreeing on quiet blocks, using headphones, protecting call time, and creating two workable zones inside the condo.
If you are planning a workcation for two, I highly recommend choosing Amapas as your home base and setting this routine before you arrive.
