I've stayed all over Puerto Vallarta, and I'm going to be straight with you. Amapas is where you want to be.
It's that perfect sweet spot between being in the middle of everything and having your own quiet slice of paradise. And the views? They're absolutely ridiculous.
The Location Is Unbeatable
Amapas sits just south of the Romantic Zone, which means you're literally walking distance from Los Muertos Beach and all the amazing restaurants and bars.
But here's the thing. You're not IN all the chaos.

You get the peace and quiet of a residential hillside neighborhood while staying close enough to walk to dinner. It's maybe five minutes by car to downtown if you want to explore the Malecón. The airport is only thirty minutes away.
When I first visited, I couldn't believe how easy everything was. Morning coffee at a beachside café? Ten-minute walk. Evening margaritas in Zona Romantica? Another short walk. But coming home to a quiet, safe street with ocean breezes? Priceless.
Those Views Though
Let me tell you about the views because they're INSANE.
Amapas is built into the hillside, which means almost every property has sweeping panoramic views of Banderas Bay. We're talking mountains, ocean, the historic downtown, everything.
I've watched the sunset from my balcony more times than I can count, and it never gets old. Every single night is different. The way the light hits the water and the mountains in the background? You can't put a price on that.

Some of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta are up here specifically because of the views. Places position themselves to showcase these incredible vistas.
My favorite thing is waking up to the sunrise over the bay with my morning coffee. It sets the tone for the entire day.
Beach Access That Actually Works
Here's what I love about Amapas and beach access. You're steps away from Playa de los Muertos, which is the most popular beach in town for good reason.
But you also have Playa Las Amapas, which is smaller and quieter. It's tucked away and sheltered by these massive Amapas trees that give the neighborhood its name.
Some properties have semi-private or exclusive beach access, which is amazing when you want to avoid the crowds. I can grab my beach chair and be on the sand in minutes.
The water is perfect for swimming. The beaches are clean. And if you want to rent a kayak or paddleboard, it's all right there.

The Vibe Is Just Right
Amapas has this really cool mix of locals and expats. It's cosmopolitan but still feels authentic.
The neighborhood is safe. Most buildings are gated with security, which gives you peace of mind. I've walked around at all hours and always felt comfortable.
There's a real sense of community here. People are friendly. They wave. They stop to chat. It doesn't feel touristy even though you're in a prime vacation spot.
And the architecture? Beautiful. You'll see modern tropical design mixed with traditional Mexican style. Everything is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed.
Everything You Need Is Close
One of my favorite things about staying in Amapas is how close you are to incredible restaurants and shopping.
The Romantic Zone has some of the best food in Puerto Vallarta. I'm talking world-class dining, local taco spots, fresh seafood, everything. And it's all a short walk or quick drive away.

There are boutique shops, art galleries, and markets where you can find unique Mexican crafts. If you need groceries, there are several supermarkets nearby.
Coffee lovers will be happy. There are amazing coffee shops scattered throughout the area where you can grab a proper espresso and watch the world go by.

Why Luxury Condo Rentals Here Make Sense
When you're looking at luxury condo rentals in Puerto Vallarta, Amapas gives you the most bang for your experience.
You get modern, well-appointed spaces with killer views. The buildings have excellent construction and architecture. Many have pools, gyms, and common areas that are actually nice to use.
I've stayed in a condo rental puerto vallarta properties all over the area, and the quality in Amapas is consistently high. The attention to detail is noticeable.
The best part? You're getting a residential experience, not a hotel vibe. You have space to spread out. You can cook if you want to. You feel like you're living in Puerto Vallarta, not just visiting.
Perfect for Different Travel Styles
Whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, Amapas works.
If you're a solo traveler, you'll feel safe walking around. There are plenty of places to meet people if you want to socialize.
Couples love it for the romantic atmosphere. Sunset views from your private balcony? Come on. That's vacation goals right there.
Families appreciate the residential feel and the proximity to beaches and activities. Kids can play safely, and parents can actually relax.
The Best Time to Visit
Honestly, Amapas is great year-round. But if you want the best weather with fewer crowds, consider visiting during shoulder season.
The weather is still beautiful, the ocean is warm, and you'll get better availability on puerto vallarta condo rentals.
I personally love visiting in the fall or late spring when everything is lush and green but the tourist rush has died down a bit.
My Bottom Line
After years of exploring Puerto Vallarta, I keep coming back to Amapas.
It has everything I want in a vacation spot. Incredible views, beach access, safety, great food, and that perfect balance of quiet and convenient.
When people ask me where to stay, I tell them Amapas without hesitation. It's the best neighborhood for experiencing the real Puerto Vallarta while still having all the amenities and access you need.
The luxury condos here offer an experience you just can't get in other neighborhoods. You wake up to ocean views, spend your day at the beach or exploring, come home to a peaceful retreat, and watch the sunset over the bay.
That's the vacation you came for. That's what Amapas delivers.
Highly recommended. You won't regret choosing this neighborhood for your next trip.
