I’ve been working remotely for years now, and I’ve learned one thing for sure. Your environment is everything.
I used to think I could work from anywhere: a dark corner of a coffee shop, a cramped hotel room, or even a noisy airport lounge. But then I discovered the Amapas neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta.
My whole perspective on productivity changed the moment I sat down at a desk overlooking the jungle and the ocean.
If you are a puerto vallarta digital nomad, you know exactly what I’m talking about. There is something truly magical about this part of the city.
Amapas is tucked away just south of Old Town. It’s quiet, it’s lush, and it has some of the most incredible views I have ever seen.
In this post, I want to share why these views are more than just pretty scenery. They are actually a secret weapon for your best work.
The Power of the "Blue and Green" Reset
We all know that feeling of being stuck. You’ve been staring at the same spreadsheet or code for three hours. Your brain feels like mush.
When I’m working from a condo in Amapas, I don’t let that happen anymore.
Whenever I feel a bit of brain fog, I just look up.
To my left, I see the deep, vibrant green of the jungle canopy. To my right, the sparkling blue water of Banderas Bay.
Science actually backs this up! Studies show that looking at nature: especially "blue" (water) and "green" (foliage) spaces: reduces stress instantly.
It’s like a mini-reset for your brain.
I find that I can work for longer stretches without getting burnt out. My focus is sharper. My mood is just… better.

Why Amapas is My Number One Recommendation
I’ve stayed all over the city. I love the energy of Old Town and the Zona Romantica. They are essentially the same place, and they are great for tacos and night walks.
But for working? Amapas is the best place to rent, hands down.
It’s just high enough on the hill to give you peace and quiet. You don't hear the honking cars or the late-night music as much.
But best of all, you are still only a five-minute walk from the action.
I love that I can finish a big project and be on Los Muertos beach in minutes.
The condos here are modern and built for people who appreciate quality. You get those high ceilings, huge windows, and the kind of architecture that makes you feel inspired.
If you're looking for rental properties in puerto vallarta, you really have to check out the options in Amapas.
My Personal Workspace Setup in PV
When we stayed at The Nest, I realized how much the physical layout of a room matters for productivity.
I always set my desk up near the window, but never facing it directly. Why? Because the glare can be tough in the afternoon!
I like to have the view just off to the side. I can glance at the ocean between emails, but I’m not constantly distracted by the boats.
Also, the air quality in Amapas is AMAZING.
Because you are surrounded by so much greenery, the air feels fresher and cooler. I usually open all the windows in the morning to let the breeze in.
It’s so much better than sitting in a stuffy office with fluorescent lights.
I’ve also found that having a dedicated "work zone" helps. Even if it’s just a specific corner of the living room.

Breaking the Routine: Coffee and Connections
Even with a perfect home office, I still like to get out occasionally.
In the mornings, I often walk down the hill into Old Town to grab a latte. It’s a great way to wake up my legs and see the city coming alive.
I’ve written before about the best coffee shops in Old Town and I stand by those picks. Getting that first cup of Mexican coffee really sets the tone for the day.
Working from Amapas gives you the best of both worlds. You have your private sanctuary, but you are never lonely.
I’ve met so many other remote workers in the local cafes. It’s a great community.
Some people ask me if a condo is really better than a hotel for this kind of trip.
We actually went deep into the condo vs hotel debate recently, and for me, the condo wins every time. Especially for work.
You need a kitchen. You need a proper table. You need to feel like you live here.
The "After-Work" Reward System
One of my best productivity tips for working in paradise is the reward system.
I tell myself: "If I finish this report by 2 PM, I’m going for a swim."
Knowing that the ocean is right there makes me work so much faster.
In Amapas, you are so close to the jungle trails too. Sometimes, instead of the beach, I’ll take a quick hike up the hill.
The sound of the birds and the rustle of the leaves is so therapeutic.
It’s the perfect way to shut off the "work brain" and transition into "vacation mode."
I’ve found that my work-life balance has never been better than when I’m staying in this neighborhood.

Final Thoughts: Just Do It!
If you are thinking about bringing your work to Puerto Vallarta, I cannot recommend Amapas enough.
The combination of the quiet hillside, the modern condos like Hummingbird, and those breathtaking views is unbeatable.
I’ve had some of my most productive and creative weeks while looking out over the Bay of Banderas.
It’s not just a vacation; it’s an upgrade to your lifestyle.
You’ll find that you are more relaxed, more focused, and much happier at the end of the day.
If you want to experience the best that PV has to offer, staying in Amapas is highly recommended!
I promise you won't regret it.
See you on the hillside!
