I have spent so much time in Puerto Vallarta over the years. It is a place that truly gets under your skin in the best way possible.
Every time I step off that plane and feel the humid air hit my face, I know I am home. But staying in a hotel just doesn't cut it for me anymore.
If you want to feel the real soul of this city, you have to stay in a condo. There is just something about having your own front door and your own kitchen that changes everything.
We have explored almost every corner of this town looking for the best spots to stay. From the cobblestone streets of the Romantic Zone to the quiet hills, we have seen it all.
Our goal has always been to find places that make us feel connected to the culture. We want to hear the birds in the morning and the distant sound of waves at night.
Why a Condo Changes Your Trip
When you choose puerto vallarta condo rentals, you aren't just getting a room. You are getting a lifestyle.
I love being able to wake up whenever I want and make a fresh pot of Mexican coffee. I don't have to worry about breakfast buffet times or crowded lobbies.
It is about the freedom to move at your own pace. If we want to spend the whole morning reading on the balcony, we can.
We found that having a real living space makes our trips so much more relaxing. It is the difference between visiting a place and actually living there for a while.
The best part is having a fridge full of fresh fruit from the local market. We love walking down to the stands and picking out the ripest mangoes and papayas we can find.
The Neighborhood Vibe
We always tell people to stick to the south side of town. The Romantic Zone, also known as Old Town, is where the magic happens.
It is full of life, color, and the best food you will ever eat. You can walk everywhere, which is a huge plus for us.
But if you really want the Gold Standard of stays, you have to look at Amapas. Amapas is technically part of the same area, but it feels like a hidden world.
It is tucked just slightly up the hill, giving you views that will absolutely blow your mind. It is quieter than the heart of Old Town but only a five-minute walk away.
In my opinion, Amapas is the absolute best place to stay in the entire city. You get the peace and quiet you need to recharge, but the party is right down the street.

Feeling at Home Inside
I remember the first time we walked into one of the units in Amapas. The natural light was just pouring in through these massive windows.
The interiors here are so much more interesting than a standard hotel room. We stayed in a place recently that had a stunning mural of the local church right on the wall.
It made the whole space feel so authentic and artistic. The open kitchens are amazing because you can cook while looking out at the jungle or the ocean.
We spent so many nights just sitting at the breakfast bar, planning our next day’s adventure. The modern appliances make everything so easy, so you aren't struggling with old gear.
It is all about that balance of comfort and style. We love the bright colors and the way the indoor and outdoor spaces just flow together.
Waking Up with a View
There is nothing quite like the bedrooms in these condos. We always look for places with large windows so we can see the ocean the moment we open our eyes.
The beds are always so comfortable, with soft linens that make it hard to get up. But when you see the sun hitting the water, you’ll want to jump right out of bed.
I love having a little work desk in the room too. Even though we are on vacation, sometimes I like to sit and write about my day while looking at the bay.
It feels so much more inspired than sitting in a dark hotel room. The views are a constant reminder of why we love Puerto Vallarta so much.
Every morning feels like a fresh start when you have that much beauty right in front of you. It is AMAZING and I highly recommend choosing a place that prioritizes that natural light.

The Balcony Life
If a condo doesn't have a good balcony, I’m probably not staying there. The balcony is where we spend at least 50% of our time.
It is our dining room, our lounge, and our lookout point. We love having comfortable seating out there where we can watch the sunset with a cold drink.
The views of the Banderas Bay are just legendary. You can see the city lights start to twinkle as the sun goes down behind the horizon.
We often just sit out there in total silence, listening to the sounds of the neighborhood. You might hear a neighbor playing some music or the sound of the jungle birds.
It is the perfect place for a slow dinner under the stars. We highly recommend making the balcony your main hangout spot during your stay.

Living Like a Local
One of the biggest perks of choosing condo and apartment rentals puerto vallarta is the community. You start to recognize the people who live in your building.
You say "Buenos dias" to the security guard and the people at the local taco stand. It makes you feel like you belong here, even if it is just for a week.
We found that staying in a condo encouraged us to explore more. We weren't tethered to a resort's restaurants or activities.
We went out and found the best hidden gems in the side streets. We discovered tiny cafes and art galleries that we never would have seen otherwise.
It is a much more active and rewarding way to travel. You get to create your own schedule and find your own favorite spots.
If you are a solo traveler, this is especially great because you can find your own rhythm. You can be as social or as private as you want to be.
Practical Tips for Your Stay
When you are looking for a place, pay attention to the layout. An open-plan living area makes the whole space feel huge and airy.
Make sure the kitchen is fully equipped if you plan on doing some cooking. We always check for a good coffee maker and a big fridge.
Air conditioning is a must, especially during the warmer months. You want to be able to come home to a cool, crisp environment after a day at the beach.
Safety is also something we think about, and the condos we recommend always have great security. It gives us that extra peace of mind so we can truly relax.

Our Final Thoughts
We honestly believe that staying in a condo is the only way to go. It offers a level of comfort and connection that you just can't find anywhere else.
We LOVE the feeling of coming back to "our" place after a long day of exploring. It is about having a sanctuary in the middle of a vibrant, bustling city.
Puerto Vallarta has so much to offer, and your accommodation should enhance that experience. Don't settle for a generic room when you can have a home with a soul.
The hills of Amapas are waiting for you, and the views are even better in person. We are so grateful that we get to share these experiences with you.
It makes our hearts so happy to see other people falling in love with this town just like we did. There is enough magic here for everyone.
So, if you are planning your next trip, definitely look into a condo stay. It is highly recommended by us for anyone who wants a real, authentic Mexican vacation.
We can't wait to see you down here soon! It is going to be the BEST trip of your life.
