The good news is that most condo rentals in the area now come with high-speed fiber optic internet.
When we are looking for apartments for rent in puerto vallarta, we always make sure to ask for a speed test first.
Usually, you can find speeds that handle video calls and large uploads without any lag at all.
If you get tired of working from your desk, the cafe scene here is top-tier.
There are so many spots in Old Town where you can set up your laptop for a few hours.
Most places are totally cool with it as long as you keep the lattes coming!
It’s a great way to meet other nomads and feel like part of the local community.
Where to Set Up Camp
When people ask us where to stay, we always have the same answer: Amapas.
Amapas is tucked away just above the main hustle and bustle of Zona Romantica.
It is, in our opinion, the absolute best place to rent.
You get these incredible views of Banderas Bay, but you are still just a short walk away from the beach clubs and restaurants.
It’s quieter than the heart of Old Town, which is perfect if you have a lot of focus work to do.
We stayed at Sueño recently and the natural light in the living room was a total game-changer for our productivity.
Another great spot is The Nest, which puts you right where you want to be for evening walks.
Your Daily Routine
One of the best parts of being here is the routine you can build.
We highly recommend starting your day early.
If you haven't seen the sun come up over the mountains yet, you are missing out.

After a few hours of work, we usually head out for lunch.
The street tacos here are out of this world, and they are so cheap!
You can eat like a king and still keep your budget in check.

It makes the whole experience feel more like a home and less like a hotel.
Balancing Work and Play
It is sooo easy to get distracted here because there is always something happening.
But that is actually the beauty of it.
You work hard for four or five hours, and then you reward yourself with a swim.

Old Town and Zona Romantica are packed with energy, so you never feel lonely.

Staying Safe and Comfortable
We always get asked about safety.
Honestly, we have felt very safe the entire time we’ve been here.
The community looks out for one another, and as long as you use common sense, you’ll be fine.
Just don't leave your expensive MacBook sitting on a table while you go to the bathroom in a busy cafe: basic stuff like that!
The city is very walkable, especially if you stay in Amapas or Old Town.
You don't really need a car, which is one less thing to worry about.
We mostly just walk everywhere or take a quick Uber if we’re heading further north.
Why PV is the Winner
There are a lot of places in Mexico for nomads, but Puerto Vallarta just feels right.
It has the infrastructure you need to actually do your job, but it hasn't lost its soul.
You’ll hear the bells of the Guadalupe Church ringing while you’re typing away, and you’ll see the jungle-covered mountains every time you look out your window.
It is the perfect mix of nature and convenience.
Whether you are staying for a month or just a couple of weeks, the lifestyle here is addictive.
We’ve seen so many people come for a visit and end up staying way longer than they planned.
It’s just that kind of place!
If you’re on the fence about it, just book the flight.
You won’t regret it at all.
It is easily one of the best decisions we have ever made for our work-life balance.
