I have spent a lot of time in Puerto Vallarta helping couples and digital nomads find comfortable places to stay, work, and enjoy the city. For a quieter work routine, I keep coming back to Amapas.
Amapas is the best place to rent when you want peaceful surroundings, ocean views, and easy access to the cafés and services of Old Town. It gives you room to focus without putting you far from the energy of Puerto Vallarta.
The key is knowing how to create a shared workspace that works for two people. You do not need a formal office inside your condo. You need good internet, comfortable seating, a clear routine, and a few quiet corners where each person can concentrate.
Why Amapas works for remote couples
Amapas sits on the hillside above the southern edge of Old Town. The streets are quieter, the views are wide, and the pace feels calmer once you are back inside your condo.
That makes a real difference when you are sharing space with a partner. One person can take a video call while the other reads, writes, or answers messages without feeling surrounded by constant noise.
The hillside location also gives many condos excellent natural light and open views. I find that even a simple work session feels better when I can look up from my screen and see greenery, the bay, or the colorful buildings across the city.
Amapas is still close to cafés, restaurants, the beach, and useful services. You can walk downhill into Old Town for a change of scenery, then return to a calmer space when you need to focus again.

1. Use the dining table for focused work
The dining table is often the most practical shared workspace in a condo.
It gives two people enough room to sit across from each other or work side by side. It also keeps laptops, notebooks, chargers, and coffee cups away from the sofa, which helps separate work time from rest time.
Before settling in, I check three things:
- Is there a power outlet nearby?
- Does the table receive steady Wi-Fi?
- Can both people sit comfortably without blocking the main walkway?
A small table can work well for email, writing, research, and planning. If both of you have video calls at the same time, however, you may need separate corners or a nearby coworking space.
I also recommend packing a compact extension cord or multi-plug. Condo outlets are not always placed exactly where you want them, and sharing one outlet can become frustrating quickly.
2. Give each person a separate quiet corner
The best shared work setup does not always mean sitting together.
One person might use the dining table while the other works from a desk, counter, or comfortable chair in the living room. This arrangement helps when one person has calls and the other needs silence.
Headphones are useful, but they should not be the only plan. Try to agree on simple quiet hours before the workday begins.
For example, you can decide that one person takes calls in the living room while the other works in the bedroom during that period. Then you can switch when the next meeting starts.
This is especially helpful for couples who work in different time zones. A shared calendar with call blocks makes the day feel much easier.
3. Choose the right corner for video calls
A good video-call corner needs more than a nice background.
Look for a spot with a stable internet connection, a comfortable chair, and enough distance from the kitchen or main walkway. A plain wall, soft curtain, or tidy living area usually looks better on camera than a busy background.
The large windows in many Amapas condos can create beautiful light, but direct glare can make the screen difficult to see. I usually position the laptop at an angle to the window and close part of the curtain if needed.
Keep a bottle of water, headphones, and your charger within reach. This sounds obvious, but having everything ready prevents interruptions during an important meeting.
If both people have calls at the same time, a coworking space may be the better choice for that day. You can keep lighter tasks at the condo and use a professional workspace for meetings, uploads, or concentrated work.
4. Use nearby coworking spaces when you need structure
Amapas itself is mainly a residential hillside area, so the most established coworking spaces are generally downhill in Old Town or farther into central Puerto Vallarta.
Joint Cowork in Zona Romántica is one of the most convenient options from Amapas. It is known for fast Wi-Fi, air conditioning, coffee, printing, and standing desks. Its location on Insurgentes makes it practical for a focused work block before returning uphill.
Vallarta Cowork in Centro is another useful option when you need a more office-like setup. It offers fiber internet, ergonomic seating, meeting space, phone booths, lockers, and a kitchen area.
For work that depends on especially reliable internet, Ángulo Cowork is worth keeping in mind. It advertises high-speed fiber service, backup connectivity, and backup power. It is farther from Amapas, but it can make sense for a day filled with video calls or large uploads.
I suggest visiting one location before committing to a longer work session. Check the noise level, chair comfort, outlet access, and call quality. These details matter much more than attractive photographs.
5. Keep café work sessions short and intentional
Cafés around Old Town can be enjoyable for lighter tasks. I like using them for planning, email, writing, and a change of scenery rather than a full day of meetings.
Puerto Cafe and Miscelanea Vallarta are popular choices for coffee and laptop work. Café Vayan is also known among digital nomads and has seating and outlets that suit short work sessions.
The important thing is to respect the space. Choose a less crowded period, order something, keep your equipment compact, and avoid occupying a small table for an entire day when the café is busy.
For couples, a café works best when both people have similar tasks. If one person needs to speak on calls, a condo or coworking space will usually be more comfortable for everyone.

6. Build a simple workday rhythm
A shared workspace feels much easier when you follow the same basic routine each day.
I recommend starting by checking the internet connection and charging both laptops. Then decide who needs quiet time, who has calls, and whether either person plans to work outside the condo.
Use the condo for focused tasks and private breaks. Walk downhill for coffee or a short change of scenery. Return to Amapas for the quieter part of the day.
A local mobile data plan is also a smart backup. Even when the condo Wi-Fi works well, having mobile data gives you another option if the connection becomes unstable.
Keep important files available offline, especially if your work involves presentations, documents, or client notes. A small amount of preparation can prevent a stressful interruption.
7. Make the condo feel like a real work base
A comfortable rental should support both work and rest.
Look for a condo with strong Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a proper table, comfortable chairs, and enough separation between the living and sleeping areas. A balcony or outdoor sitting area can be useful for breaks, but I prefer keeping calls and laptop work indoors where the connection and noise are easier to control.
The kitchen also matters. Having a place to prepare coffee, water, and simple meals means you do not need to leave every time you want a break. The colorful tile, local artwork, and open layouts found in many Amapas condos add character without making the space feel crowded.

My recommendation for couples working in Amapas
If you are a couple or digital nomad planning to work during your Puerto Vallarta stay, I recommend choosing Amapas first.
Use your condo as the quiet home base. Set up one shared table, create a second work corner, and agree on call times before the day starts. Use nearby cafés for shorter work sessions and coworking spaces for meetings that need dependable internet and professional seating.
Amapas gives you the best balance of privacy, views, walkable access, and a calmer daily rhythm. It is highly recommended for couples who want to stay productive without giving up the feeling of being on vacation.
