I have a confession to make.
I am OBSESSED with coffee.
And after spending years exploring every corner of Old Town Puerto Vallarta, I've found the absolute best spots to get your caffeine fix. These aren't just good coffee shops. They're AMAZING coffee shops.
Trust me on this one.
If you're visiting Puerto Vallarta and you love coffee as much as I do, you're going to want to bookmark this post. I've done the hard work for you. I've tasted all the lattes. I've sampled all the cold brews. I've people-watched from all the best seats.
You're welcome!
Why Old Town is Coffee Heaven
Old Town (also called Zona Romántica) is my favorite part of Puerto Vallarta.
The cobblestone streets. The colorful buildings. The incredible energy.
It's the perfect backdrop for sipping a delicious cup of coffee.
Every morning, I grab my coffee and just walk around. The streets come alive early here. You'll see locals heading to work. Tourists exploring. Dogs lounging in the sunshine.
It's magical.
And the coffee scene? It keeps getting better and better every year.

Dee's Coffee Company
Let me start with one of my absolute favorites.
Dee's Coffee Company is located just a block up from Playa Los Muertos Pier. The location alone makes it worth the visit. But the coffee? That's what keeps me coming back.
Here's what makes Dee's special.
Their coffee is single origin. It comes from a small town near San Sebastián. It's certified organic. And they roast it right on the farm before brewing.
The result is a strong French Roast Americano that will wake you UP.
I love sitting outside on the charming street. There are these beautiful mosaic benches with loving messages carved into them. It's the perfect spot for people-watching.
Grab a coffee. Find a bench. Watch the world go by.
Sooo relaxing!
Bean & Brick
Okay, this place has become a HUGE favorite of mine.
Bean & Brick serves some of the smoothest espresso drinks I've ever had. Seriously. It's like they brought a little piece of Seattle right here to Old Town.
Their espresso is consistently well-balanced. Not too bitter. Not too acidic. Just perfect.
But here's the thing.
Their iced coffee is where it's at.
If you're visiting during the warmer months (which is most of the year, let's be honest), you NEED to try their iced coffee. It's refreshing. It's smooth. It's exactly what you want on a hot Puerto Vallarta afternoon.
They also have amazing savory croissants. And if you're trying to eat healthy, they've got options like Mediterranean quinoa salad.
Coffee AND good food? Yes please!

Elforoteo Coffee
This spot is right in the middle of town and it's fantastic.
Elforoteo serves excellent flat whites, americanos, and cold brews. But what really sets them apart is their signature drink.
The caramel orange cold brew.
I know that sounds weird. Caramel AND orange? But trust me. It works. It's sweet. It's citrusy. It's refreshing. It's become one of my go-to orders when I want something different.
Oh, and they have live music on Thursdays!
If you're looking for the best puerto vallarta rental condos, staying in Old Town means you can walk to spots like Elforoteo any time you want. That's the beauty of this neighborhood.
The breakfast here is also incredible. Try the chilaquiles domingueros con chicharrón. Your taste buds will thank you.
The Coffee Cup
Now, if you're a true coffee connoisseur, you're going to LOVE this place.
The Coffee Cup does things differently.
Most coffee shops here serve dark French roasts. And that's great. I love a strong, bold coffee. But The Coffee Cup offers something unique.
They have two roasts. Medium bodied and light bodied.
Their beans come from Oaxaca and Chiapas. These are some of the best coffee-growing regions in Mexico. The result is a smooth cup with lightly acidic tones.
It's a completely different coffee experience.
If you normally drink light roast coffee back home, this is your spot. You'll feel right at home here.

A Page In The Sun
This one is special.
A Page In The Sun is a café AND a bookstore. And it's been around for over 20 years!
Twenty years!
That tells you something about how beloved this place is.
The coffee options here are fantastic. Hot. Cold. Fraps. You name it. And the best part? They customize everything to your preferences.
Want your latte extra hot? No problem.
Need oat milk? They've got you.
Want to reduce the sweetness? Just ask.
This is the kind of place where you can grab a coffee, find a good book, and lose yourself for a few hours. I've spent many happy afternoons here.
Highly recommended if you love books as much as you love coffee!
My Tips for the Best Coffee Experience
After all my coffee adventures, I've learned a few things.
First, go early.
The mornings in Old Town are pure magic. The streets are quieter. The air is cooler. And you'll beat the crowds at the popular spots.
Second, try something new.
Don't just order your usual Americano. Ask what the barista recommends. Try a signature drink. You might discover your new favorite!
Third, take your time.
Don't rush your coffee. Find a good seat. Watch the people walking by. Soak in the atmosphere. That's part of the experience here.

Where to Stay for Easy Coffee Access
Here's my honest advice.
If you want the best coffee experience in Puerto Vallarta, you need to stay in the right neighborhood.
Old Town is perfect. You're walking distance from all these amazing coffee shops. You can roll out of bed and have a perfect latte in your hands within minutes.
But if you want my top recommendation?
Stay in Amapas.
Amapas is just up the hill from Old Town. It's quieter. It's more residential. And the views are INCREDIBLE.
You're still close enough to walk down to Old Town for your morning coffee. But you get to escape the busier streets when you want some peace.
If you're searching for rental condos in puerto vallarta, Amapas is hands down the best area. I always recommend it to friends visiting.
The combination of easy beach access, amazing coffee nearby, and those stunning views? It's unbeatable.
Final Thoughts
Puerto Vallarta's coffee scene is something special.
These aren't just coffee shops. They're gathering places. They're where you'll meet other travelers. Where you'll chat with locals. Where you'll have some of your best vacation moments.
I've had so many wonderful mornings sitting in these cafés. Watching the sun climb higher. Feeling the warm breeze. Sipping on a perfectly crafted drink.
It never gets old.
So when you visit Puerto Vallarta, do yourself a favor. Put down the phone. Grab a great cup of coffee. And just enjoy the moment.
You won't regret it!
See you in Old Town. ☕
