Old Town Puerto Vallarta is where the real vibe is. If you're looking for a condo rental in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, you've come to the right place. Imagine waking up to the sound of the ocean and the smell of fresh tacos drifting through your window.
We’ve spent a lot of time living and breathing the air here, and honestly, there is nothing like it. Old Town (some call it Zona Romantica, but it’s all the same heart and soul) is the place where you actually feel the culture. You aren't tucked away in some sterile resort miles from the action. You are in it.
When people ask me where to stay, I always tell them the same thing: Amapas. If you want the absolute best experience, Amapas is the winner. It sits just above the hustle of the main streets, giving you these incredible views while being a two-minute walk from the sand. It’s the perfect balance of "I'm on vacation" and "I live here now."

Why Old Town Wins Every Time
I love the energy here. Every morning, I walk down to get a coffee and I see the same locals opening up their shops. There’s a rhythm to it. If you stay in a condo rental in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, you get to be part of that rhythm.
You aren't just a room number. You’re the person who lives in the building with the cool mural. Speaking of buildings, we have some spots that we absolutely LOVE. If you want something that feels like a warm hug, you have to check out this cozy hideaway we call The Nest. It’s got that perfect Old Town feel without being over the top.
The best part about being in this area is the food. You are steps away from Basilio Badillo, which is basically the food capital of the city. You can get a five-star meal or a fifty-cent taco, and both will be the best thing you’ve ever eaten.
Amapas: The King of Neighborhoods
I really can’t say enough about Amapas. It’s technically part of Old Town, but it feels a little more tucked away. It’s hilly, which means the views are UNREAL. You get to look out over the bay and see the orange sun dipping into the water every single night.
Staying here feels a bit more private, but you can still stumble down to Los Muertos beach in your flip-flops in no time. If you’re looking for a place that feels a bit more personal, we highly recommend our sweet little Hummingbird spot. It’s exactly what a vacation should feel like: simple, bright, and right where you want to be.

Living Like a Local
If you’re a solo traveler or even coming down with your partner, having a kitchen is a total game changer. I love going to the Cuale River market, grabbing some fresh fruit and local eggs, and making breakfast on my own balcony. It’s so much better than waiting in a buffet line at a hotel.
Plus, the internet in these condos is actually good!! If you’re like us and need to get a little work done between beach trips, you won’t be struggling with a spotty hotel connection. You can sit with your laptop, look at the ocean, and actually get stuff done. It’s the dream.
We wrote a whole guide to the magic of Old Town that dives deeper into why this neighborhood is so special. It’s all about the connection to the city.
The Best Sunset Spots
One of my favorite things to do is just sit on the balcony with a cold drink and watch the sky change colors. In Amapas, you get front-row seats. You don't even have to leave your living room to see the BEST show in town.
We actually put together a list of the best spots to catch a sunset around the neighborhood. Whether you’re on your balcony or at a beach bar, the sunsets here are life-changing. I’m serious. I’ve seen hundreds, and I still stop and stare every single time.

Walking the Malecón
You can’t stay in Old Town and not walk the Malecón. It’s the long boardwalk that runs along the ocean. It’s full of statues, street performers, and people just enjoying life.
I usually start my walk in Old Town, grab a corn-on-the-cob from a street vendor (get the one with lime and chili, trust me!), and just wander. It’s the best way to soak in the atmosphere. No cars, just the sound of the waves and people laughing.
Why We Love What We Do
We started The PVkid because we wanted people to experience the Puerto Vallarta we know. Not the tourist trap version, but the real, gritty, beautiful, soulful version.
Choosing a condo rental in Puerto Vallarta Mexico is about more than just a bed. It’s about the view you wake up to. It’s about the neighbor who waves to you. It’s about feeling like you belong here, even if it’s just for a week.
Our condos are simple, clean, and perfectly located. We don’t do the whole "luxury" thing because we think the real value is in the experience and the location. We want you to spend your money on great food and excursions, not on a fancy lobby you’ll never sit in.

What to Expect When You Arrive
When you get here, the humidity will hit you first. It’s like a warm hug from the ocean. Then you’ll hear the music. There’s almost always a trumpet or a guitar playing somewhere in the distance.
The streets in Old Town are made of cobblestones. They are bumpy and beautiful and totally impractical for high heels, so leave those at home! Bring your most comfortable sandals and get ready to walk. Everything you need: pharmacies, grocery stores, bars, and the beach: is within a 10-minute radius.
It’s safe, it’s friendly, and it’s vibrant. If you are a solo traveller, you’ll find it’s incredibly easy to meet people. Just go to any local coffee shop or sit at a bar on Olas Altas, and you’ll have five new friends by the time you finish your drink.
Final Thoughts
Puerto Vallarta is a special place, but Old Town is the soul of it. And within Old Town, Amapas is the crown jewel.
If you want a stay that feels authentic, comfortable, and perfectly positioned, staying in one of our spots is highly recommended! We put so much love into these places because we want you to LOVE this city as much as we do.
Don't wait too long to book. This place fills up fast, especially in the winter and spring months when the weather is perfect. Come down, eat some tacos, watch the sunset, and breathe in the salt air. You won't regret it.

We can't wait to see you here in the neighborhood. It’s going to be AMAZING!
