I have spent a lot of time in Puerto Vallarta over the years.
I’ve stayed in the massive resorts where you wear a plastic wristband all week.
I’ve tried the tiny hotels where the walls feel like paper.
But after all my trips, I’ve realized there is only one right way to do it.
Getting a condo rental is the absolute best way to experience everything this city has to offer.
It changes the whole vibe of your vacation from being a "tourist" to feeling like you actually live here.
And trust me, once you feel like a local in PV, you never want to go back to the old way of traveling!
Why Location is Everything
When you stay in a hotel, you’re often stuck in one big building.
In Puerto Vallarta, the magic happens out on the streets.
You want to be where the action is, but you also want a quiet place to retreat to.
Most people talk about Old Town or the Zona Romantica.
They are actually the same place, and it is the heart of the city.
It’s where you find the best tacos, the coolest art galleries, and the most vibrant nightlife.
But if you want my honest opinion, Amapas is the best place to stay.
Amapas sits right next to Old Town, tucked into the hillside.
It gives you the most AMAZING views of the ocean while keeping you just a short walk from the beach.
It is quiet, it is beautiful, and it feels much more private than the busier parts of the center.

Space to Actually Breathe
One of the biggest reasons I choose a condo is the space.
Hotel rooms can feel so cramped after just a couple of days.
You’re constantly tripping over your suitcase.
In a condo, you have a living room, a kitchen, and usually a balcony that feels like an extra room.
I love being able to spread out and relax.
If you are looking for a great spot, I highly recommend this amazing Casa CC.
Having a separate bedroom makes a world of difference for your sleep quality.
You aren't hearing people talk in the hallway or doors slamming every five minutes.
It’s just peaceful.
Cooking and Fresh Markets
I am obsessed with the food in Puerto Vallarta.
But sometimes, I don't want to go out for every single meal.
Having a full kitchen in your condo is a total game changer.
I love waking up early and walking down to the local markets.
I grab fresh papaya, mangoes, and some local coffee beans.
Coming back to my own kitchen to make breakfast while looking at the ocean is the BEST way to start the day.
You save money, sure, but it’s more about the experience.
It feels sooooo good to just hang out in your pajamas and enjoy the morning breeze.

The View from the Balcony
Most condos in the Amapas and Old Town areas are built to show off the Bay of Banderas.
There is nothing quite like a PV sunset from your own private balcony.
I spend hours out there just watching the boats go by.
It’s the perfect place for a glass of wine or a cold Pacifico.
When you stay in a condo, that view is yours 24/7.
You don't have to fight for a chair or deal with crowds to see the sun go down.
It’s private, it’s romantic, and it’s very relaxing.
If you are planning a trip, another amazing choice is the stunning Vizcarra 2.
The views from places like this will literally take your breath away.
Staying Connected While You Travel
I work while I travel, so I need good internet.
Resort Wi-Fi is notoriously bad and usually very expensive.
Most of the condos I stay at have high-speed fiber internet.
I’ve never had an issue taking a Zoom call or uploading photos while sitting at the dining table.
If you are a solo traveler or a digital nomad, this is a huge deal.
You can get your work done quickly and then head straight to the beach.
It takes the stress out of trying to find a coffee shop with a stable connection.

The Feeling of Home
There is a certain warmth to a condo that a hotel just can't copy.
The decor is usually personal and reflects the culture of Mexico.
You’ll see beautiful tiles, local artwork, and furniture that feels high-quality.
I love the little details, like the colorful "papel picado" decorations or the hand-painted sinks.
It makes me feel connected to the place I'm visiting.
The staff in these buildings are also incredibly friendly.
Since these aren't massive hotels, the security guards and cleaners get to know you.
It feels safe and very welcoming.
I always feel a bit sad when it’s time to pack up and leave.
It really does start to feel like home after just a few days.

Exploring the Neighborhood
Staying in a condo in Amapas or Old Town means you are steps away from everything.
I love walking down the cobblestone streets in the afternoon.
You’ll find hidden taco stands that have the best al pastor you’ve ever tasted.
You can walk to the Malecon and see the street performers and the sand sculptures.
Everything is so close that you don't even need a car.
I usually just walk everywhere or take a quick Uber if I'm headed further north.
But honestly, most of the time, everything I need is right there.
The convenience factor is just off the charts.

Privacy and Peace
I think the biggest thing for me is the privacy.
In a condo, you don't have a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door because nobody is bothering you anyway.
You don't have to worry about housekeeping knocking at 8:00 AM when you’re trying to sleep in.
You have your own entrance, your own space, and your own schedule.
If I want to eat dinner at midnight, I can.
If I want to take a nap at 2:00 PM without hearing a vacuum in the hallway, I can.
It’s that freedom that makes a vacation feel like a real break from the world.
I’ve stayed in some AMAZING places in this city, but the condos in Amapas always win.
The combination of the hills, the jungle, and the ocean is just unbeatable.
It’s a very special part of the world.
Final Thoughts on Your Stay
If you are thinking about visiting Puerto Vallarta, do yourself a favor.
Skip the big hotel chains and find a nice condo.
You will have more space, better views, and a much more authentic experience.
You’ll get to know the neighbors, the local shop owners, and the rhythm of the city.
Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful place with so much heart.
Staying in a condo lets you see that heart up close.
I highly recommend booking a spot in Amapas for your next trip.
You will LOVE it!
